Selena Gomez is giving audiences a piece of her mind. The star and entrepreneur announced on Sep. 8 the upcoming release of “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” on Apple TV+. The feature-length documentary will touch on her ever-expanding career and personal mental health journey. In her announcement, Gomez tweeted a video of a theater screen featuring the documentary’s title. “Wanna hear a part to my story,” she wrote.
In a press release, the streamer said the documentary would focus on a six-year period in Gomez’s life: “After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.” Alek Keshishian directed and produced “My Mind and Me.” He previously made the groundbreaking 1991 documentary “Madonna: Truth or Dare.”

Though at times private about her personal life, Gomez has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness. She’s often spoken about her experience with anxiety and depression, and in 2020, she publicly disclosed her bipolar diagnosis. Earlier this year, Gomez launched Wondermind, a content hub centered around mental health and wellness. She also recently appeared at the White House to host its first-ever Mental Health Youth Action Forum with other leaders in the space, including First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
It’s been a whirlwind few years for Gomez, who launched her Rare Beauty line, has her own “Selena + Chef” cooking show, and currently stars in “Only Murders in the Building.” The whodunit comedy earned Gomez her first Emmy nomination, since she’s an executive producer on the series. In fact, she’s only the second Latina in history to be nominated as a producer for outstanding comedy series.
The release date for “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” has not yet been announced.
