Instagram Enhances DMs with New Creative Tools

Instagram is expanding its messaging features, adding a variety of creative tools to make direct messages (DMs) more engaging and personalized.

Previously, Instagram introduced a cutout sticker feature for Stories, and now that same functionality is available in DMs. Users can create custom stickers from photos or videos and share them in their conversations, similar to the sticker tools found on WhatsApp.

In another update, Instagram is allowing users to edit photos directly in the DM interface before sending them. You can add text, stickers, and effects to your images, a feature that has already proven popular in Stories.

Additionally, Instagram is rolling out a new way to celebrate birthdays with personalized birthday notes. These notes will appear in chats, and when tapped, a festive cake effect and confetti animation will fill the screen, making it easier for friends to send well-wishes.

To further enhance the DM experience, Instagram is introducing new chat themes such as “Fall” and “Sabrina Carpenter” to coincide with seasonal vibes and the artist’s album release. These changes reflect Instagram’s growing emphasis on direct messaging as a key aspect of user engagement on the platform.
