Well, this is awkward, and not necessarily a feud – more a severing of ties.
John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, West’s ex Kim Kardashian and West, pictured here in 2015, all enjoyed a high-profile friendship for years. Notably, Teigen and Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner launched a self-care and home cleaning line together last year, and Legend and West were seen to be particularly close – but apparently not anymore.
Speaking on CNN’s The Ax FilesLegend, 43, said he could not give his friendship with West a “green light” anymore due to the fact that “we publicly disagreed on his running for office and supporting Trump.”
West infamously made a bid for the White House in 2020, and is very vocal about his support of the former president.
Legend told podcast host David Axelrod that the duo were not “friends as much as we used to be.”
“He was upset that I didn’t support his run for the presidency of the United States of America — for understandable reasons,” Legend said, adding, “I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly.”
Legend was an avid supporter of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, even speaking publicly and performing at their inaugural concert.
“Like, he’s been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he’s dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get,” Legend concluded.
