Tesla is reportedly set to unveil its long-anticipated robotaxi on October 10, according to sources close to the development. The launch event is expected to take place at the Warner Bros. studio in Burbank, California, a fitting venue known for its cinematic history.
Originally scheduled for August 8, the robotaxi’s debut was postponed due to a significant design change, as confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on social media platform X. Details about the robotaxi remain scarce, though Musk has hinted that it might share design elements with Tesla’s Cybertruck.
The upcoming event is generating considerable excitement as Tesla continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology. The company is leveraging advancements in AI and autonomy to diversify beyond its core electric vehicle (EV) market.

However, challenges remain on the road to full autonomy. Tesla’s existing Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, now labeled with a “Supervised” tag, has yet to achieve true driverless capabilities, drawing criticism from both regulators and the public. For the robotaxi to succeed, it must reliably navigate every aspect of a journey without human intervention—a milestone that has yet to be fully realized.
The launch comes as competitors in the autonomous vehicle space, such as General Motors’ Cruise and Alphabet’s Waymo, continue to make strides with their own technologies. As Tesla prepares for this landmark event, the industry will be watching closely to see if the company can deliver on its ambitious promises.
Elon Musk has not responded to requests for comment regarding the robotaxi’s launch.
